Recovery From Mormonism article on Marriage.
I browse theRFM site this weekend, as they closed down the boards till Monday morning.
That gives me time to read up on what everyone has been posting allll week, and though some people speak of the passing away of the latest lds leader GB Hinkey!!, other people post more relevant and important topics,
Remember folks,
the lds church has a shady past, as it was started by a con man named JosephSmith, whom, before he started lds Inc, he was a Moneydigger and treasure seeker for profit.
the church has grown much since then and is quite strict in it's financial dealings and they are very secretive about what goes on behind closed doors,
The geezer, GB Hinkey, has been the one running the church for the past couple of decades, and lately, some of his fanbase think he's a cute old man and couldn't hurt anyone or do anything bad.
But Hinkley was part of theHoffman murders, as were a number of other high profile mormon leaders,
Do you think that if anyone of those men, who were duped by mark hoffman the greedy document forger, were really in touch with their Mo mo god that they'd have Inspiration to Stop mr Hoffman?!
People died as a result of this event and now the latest Mo mo profit!! that passed away, mr GHB himself, in many people's eyes is a Murderer.
As a former PublicSafetyOfficer and current-PublicSafety atLarge!!, I want you to consider this,
that currently there sits hundreds of thousands of men & women in prisons. And that much of them, to any degree ARE GUILTY of crimes committed that got them sent to prison.
Do we, do You or I want to ever forget the past of these various Criminals and let them free!? I know that I don't want them or society to forget and I sure as hell don't want these people free amongst society.
Do we, do You or I want anything to do with such people!? Because I know that I don't want anything to do with any of these people. They have chosen their paths in life and therefore-throughout the eternities in my opinion.
So..
in that grain of thought,
I say to you that theMormon church has had dubious beginnings.
It's founder Joseph Smith was into the occult arts, and he may well have pledgariazed the Book of mormon by borrowing the books Concept from another author of his day.
From the beginning this lds church has been clannish, Racist, bigoted and backwards.
What strikes me as a Minority, I am Lakota-an "Sioux Indian" from SouthDakota, is that when the mormon church was first started,
It DID give the Priesthood to black men,
but there was one black man in particular that started to make some claims of divine origin as well (as the Then-Current Mo mo leaders) and so the mormons kicked this black man out of their church,
As the church leaders weren't too happy that, while he was a mormon, theBlackman had been sealed to several "WHITE" women in the lds temple, so we see, that Racism had a part of church history.
The church leaders wrote church doctrine and scripture to justify doing this Excommunication to a black man and they never bestowed their priesthood upon another black man until after 1978,
But the lds church is still Racist.
It is still a bigoted church, this I know because of my own personal dealings with this organization for over 30+ yrs.
the White and delightsome church leadership and members don't want an "Indian" marrying into their ranks,
For all I know, that black man of long ago COULD have been an Native American man from the reservation.
So too, as in my poor selection of using Criminals as subject matter, is what the LDS church wants to do with the PAST.
Particularly it's own bloody, racist, murderous past.
The church wants YOU to forget that the prophet Joe, JosephSmith, was secretly marrying other Mens wives-often while they were STILL married!!
And the man Joe was busy writing his "scripture" of plural marriage to justify his adulterous escapades.
Not only did this so called church demand Your Money from the beginning-in form of tithes and other forced "donations",
this so called church demanded that Wives and teenage girls bend over and take one in thePuss & ass for ol' Joe!!
You know, because he was "special", and he could look into his hat and find buried treasure, and because he was an Egotist that needed an audience of gullible fools to lead.
And still today, the farce continues.
While those clannish "saints" living in utah bury their wizzened leader, GB Who!?
The rest of the world goes on caring about more important things that matter to humanity than, say, a multimillion dollar shopping mall, or hundreds of useless temples, and stealing people's names & identities (after they died) and by Necrotic means in their temples-Baptizing them mormon without their express consent!!
In this world today, there are thousands of starving and sick people overseas-refugees of war, mudslides, tsunami's and other disaster.
We have an war over a decade or more long raging overseas and our own country's borders are collapsing, our economy is downturning right now,
we have new potential leadership candidates vying for the white house and all of these things and many more are far more important than some used up codger in salt lake.
When some people prove themselves to be bad, don't "forget" their past and let them slide by, Don't let them forget and don't ever ever get complacent and think it's not your business to Warn Others of this danger.
This same argument applies to Organizations, to Clubs, to churches, to governments as well, etc.
Never Forget!!
And now we'll continue onto this wonderful cut & paste that I found.
I don't often contribute to theRecoveryFromMormonism site boards, but when I do, I approach things with light mindedness and humor,
knowing that what I speak on was intimately known and experienced to some degree, by even Me!!

an Native American whom was "stolen" from his own Mother and subsequently brainwashed into theOccult of mormonism and is a recent Recovery Victim, having finally shed and cast aside all things mormon,
inspite of being "white" most of my life, I had my Native American roots with me and learned to hide them and keep them safe, I'm just beginning to open up some of those long dormant memories of my Lakota way of life,

Married in the temple to each other for eternity?
Where's the love?
Is any of this information in the Temple Preparation Class?
Does anyone fully understand what is going to happen?
Don't we deserve Full Disclosure for Informed Consent and Informed Choice? Are the covenants binding if you have not been given full disclosure?
This comprises parts of the endowment and the actual marriage ceremony and the D&C 132 references that support the doctrine of eternal marriage or the New and Everlasting Covenant which is Plurality of Wives.
To answer your question: (it's buried in the ceremony)
[The only part that meets the requirement of the law, that I can find is:
authority vested in me, I pronounce you ______, and ______, legally and lawfully husband and wife
Without that wording, the ceremony would not be legally binding in the US.]
This is long!
Married in the temple, to each other, are you sure? Where's the love?
After passing two interviews to get the temple recommend-- (see Temple Recommend Questions here: http://www.lds-mormon.com/veilworker/recommend.shtml,)
either on the day of the marriage, or earlier, and going through the Endowment Ceremony: Washing and Anointing ceremony where the Holy Garment of the Priesthood (notice ladies, you wear the same garment of the Holy Priesthood!), is placed on you and covenanting to obey:
The Law of Obedience
The Law of Sacrifice
The Law of the Gospel
The Law of Chastity
The Law of Consecration --which is:(I am only including this particular one on this post as it has it directly applies to the marriage covenant.)
A couple will now come to the altar.
We are instructed to give unto you the Law of Consecration as contained in the book of Doctrine and Covenants, in connection with the Law of the Gospel and the Law of Sacrifice which you have already received.
It is that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the Kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion.
All arise. Each of you bring your right arm to the square.
You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the Law of Consecration as contained in the Doctrine and Covenants, in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the Kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion.
Each of you bow your head and say "yes."
Then and only then may you be sealed in the marriage ceremony.
Here is the ceremony.
Sometimes, the officiator will allow an exchange of rings at the end of the ceremony, and a kiss.
(I don't know the current policy on this practice. Maybe someone else does.)
Officiator: Brother ______, [naming groom] and Sister ______, [naming bride] please join hands in the Patriarchal Grip or Sure Sign of the Nail.
Marriage Couple:
Joins hands in the "Patriarchal Grip, or Sure Sign of the Nail."This token is given by clasping the right hands, interlocking the little fingers and placing the tip of the forefinger upon the center of the wrist. No clothing should interfere with the contact of the forefinger upon the wrist.
Officiator: Brother ______, do you take Sister ______ by the right hand and receive her unto yourself to be your lawful and wedded wife for time and all eternity, with a covenant and promise that you will observe and keep all the laws, rites, and ordinances pertaining to this Holy Order of Matrimony in the New and Everlasting Covenant, and this you do in the presence of God, angels, and these witnesses of your own free will and choice?
Groom: Yes.
Officiator: Sister ______ do you take brother ______ by the right hand and give yourself to him to be his lawful and wedded wife, and for him to be your lawful and wedded husband, for time and all eternity, with a covenant and promise that you will observe and keep all the laws, rites and ordinances pertaining to this Holy Order of Matrimony in the New and Everlasting Covenant, and this you do in the presence of God, angels, and these witnesses of your own free will and choice?
Bride: Yes.
Officiator:
By virtue of the Holy Priesthood and the authority vested in me, I pronounce you ______, and ______, legally and lawfully husband and wife for time and all eternity, and I seal upon you the blessings of the holy resurrection with power to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection clothed in glory, immortality and eternal lives, and I seal upon you the blessings of kingdoms, thrones, principalities, powers, dominions and exaltations, with all the blessings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and say unto you: be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth that you may have joy and rejoicing in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
All these blessings, together with all the blessings appertaining unto the New and Everlasting Covenant, I seal upon you by virtue of the Holy Priesthood, through your faithfulness, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Amen.

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, recorded July 12, 1843, relating to the new and everlasting covenant, including the eternity of the marriage covenant, as also plurality of wives. HC 5: 501—507.
Although the revelation was recorded in 1843, it is evident from the historical records that the doctrines and principles involved in this revelation had been known by the Prophet since 1831.

Here's the 1969 version:
Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, recorded July 12, 1843, relating to the new and everlasting covenant, including the eternity of the marriage covenant, as also plurality of wives.
-------The Prophet’s inquiry of the Lord--He is told to prepare himself to receive the new and everlasting covenant--Conditions of this law--The power of the Holy Priesthood instituted by the Lord must be operative in ordinances to be in effect beyond the grave--
Marriage by secular authority is of effect during mortality only--Though the form of marriage should make it appear to be for time and eternity, the ordinance is not valid beyond the grave unless solemnized by the authority of the Holy Priesthood as the Lord directs--
Marriage duly authorized for time and eternity to be attended by surpassing blessings--Essentials for the attainment of the status of godhood -- The meaning of eternal lives--Plurality of wives acceptable only when commanded by the Lord--The sin of adultery--Commandment to Emma Smith, wife of the prophet.http://scriptures.lds.org/dc/132
1981 edition:
1—6, Exaltation is gained through the new and everlasting covenant;
7—14, The terms and conditions of that covenant are set forth;
15—20, Celestial marriage and a continuation of the family unit enable men to become gods;
21—25, The strait and narrow way that leads to eternal lives;
26—27, Law given relative to blasphemy against the Holy Ghost;
28—39, Promises of eternal increase and exaltation made to prophets and saints in all ages;
40—47, Joseph Smith is given the power to bind and seal on earth and in heaven;
48—50, The Lord seals upon him his exaltation;
51—57, Emma Smith is counseled to be faithful and true;
58—66, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.
Did you catch it? Celestial Marriage is Plurality of Wives! The Mormon Church has never, ever stopped practicing their law that applies to polygamy or plurality of wives as that is what Celestial Marriage (The New and Everlasting Covenant) is!
Did you notice that the marriage sealing ceremony not only continues the practice of polygamy, and, because of the covenant of the Law of Consecration,
married you to the church and it's commandments by covenant, not each other?
Investigators BEWARE:
Demand full disclosure for informed consent. You won't get it from the Mormon Church, so do your own research.
